Flicking through the channels on Saturday I ended up completely mesmerised by a repeat of The 2008 World Acrobatic Championship Finals. It actually took place last October at the Kelvin Hall Arena in Glasgow with Britain winning two bronze medals - Men’s Pair and Men's Groups! Why didn't I hear anything about it? I can not begin to tell you how incredible these athletes are. The things they do with their bodies beggars belief and I cannot even fathom ever attempting the same. Each move is a combination of core strength, flexibility, balance and grace surely risking their lives to create beautiful shapes mid-air and death defying tumbles. Why this isn't an Olympic sport I don't know, these people are superhuman and should have serious laudits and praise heaped upon them.
Check this out - 2008 Women's Pair World Champions - Belarus. Then scroll down the options on the right and look at the 2008 Men's Group World Champions, second from the bottom. I challenge you to watch both without being amazed.
